Take part …
… in the competition GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2017!
Closing date is 1 March 2017
Like no other contest the competition of the GDT (Society of German Nature Photographers) represents the high quality and specific style of European wildlife photography. For the 17th time we invite professional and non-professional photographers from all over Europe to join this prestigious competition. We are looking for fresh ideas and unusual perspectives. Your photographs should portray the fascinating beauty of nature but also point out its endangered and fragile state. They should evoke deep feelings and give room for emotions.
As every year our jury consists of seasoned photographers from all over the world. This year it will include Isabel Díez from Spain, Audun Rikardsen from Norway, Werner Bollmann from Germany and Jonathan Lhoir from France among others. Further members of the jury will be announced shortly and introduced on our website.
Find more information about the competition on our website.
We look forward to receiving your images!

You can spot them especially in early autumn – the delicate praying mantis. As soon as it drops its camou age posture, it can easily be spotted moving through the dry grassland. Looking through the macro lens, you can see the pointy spikes on the forelegs, the raptorial legs. These are used for catching and holding their prey. Incredible as it may seem, the female often eats the male – the father to their future offspring – shortly after or even during mating.
